Epic Games is the developer behind Fortnite, one of the most popular and successful video games of all time with over 400 million players worldwide (2023 figures). It is also the company behind Unreal Engine, the world’s most advanced tool for developers to create photorealistic graphics and immersive gameplay. Epic Games is one of the world’s biggest gaming companies: in its 2022 funding round, it was valued at $32bn.

VGC became a shareholder in Epic Games when they acquired our portfolio company SuperAwesome, whose technology helps brands present child-safe content and advertising. When exiting SuperAwesome, we took cash and stock as part of our consideration and we continue to build relationships with Epic Games across our portfolio.
